War for Cybertron has exceptional audio and voice-acting. The most pleasant surprise, for me, was to find that Peter Cullen (the original voice of Optimus Prime) lent his amazing talent to this project, which is certainly a treat for the fans as his epic delivery as Optimus is spot-on. A Transformers game would be pretty silly if you were stuck in humanoid form all the time, but thankfully you can change into a vehicle whenever you want. Small sections of each level are built specifically for your vehicular form, and it's fun to cruise down cylindrical roadways or glide across asteroid belts and let the Cybertron atmosphere wash over you. I'd rather watch Twilight on loop for a few hours than play this game again. North Korean interrogators will no doubt use this as a torture method for captured professional Halo players. Pros It has Optimus Prime in it. That is the one and only redeeming factor. Cons It's a repetitive, boring, unchallenging, plagiarised game obviously developed by a bunch of hack gaming developers who thought it would be fun to rip off Halo. Suprise!! Read more
Animation has never been short on giant robots, but Transformers is probably among the most successful and endearing. Global success has come in the form of numerous cartoons, anime, comics and lately, live-action movies. Not too shabby for a cartoon that was originally conceived to push a toy line.
