Split/Second is a lot of fun and if you rent games it should be near the top of your ‘to rent' list. If arcade racers are your bag, I can highly recommend Split/Second and with its split-screen multiplayer it would be a great one to keep the kids entertained. Longevity will vary based on your personal tastes and attention span but Split/Second will be a blast while it lasts. Read more

    • unique gameplay, amazing interactive set pieces, fun and quick to get into, great graphics and sound
    • online multiplayer has balance issues, lacks the depth for long term appeal

The single-player campaign is structured as a reality television show on which you are contestant. Split/Second doesn't do a whole lot with the premise (you won't meet any slimy TV producers or peek in on any bloodthirsty viewers), but each episode's introduction and credit sequence is produced so well that you look forward to seeing what courses you unlock next. • Thin package that relies too much on a single mechanic, Scant online options, Online scoring bugs.

The premise follows that you are involved in a reality TV show called Split/Second, in which drivers compete over a season. The ability to use 'Power Plays' and generate explosions to throw off your opponents in game is really the ace up the sleeve of this game. Read more

    • Fantastic action orientated racing, with some of the best environmental interactions I've played on in a while. Awesome 'speed sense' makes you feel like you're drivin...
    • Sound track is painful to the ears. The entire game, after you've been playing for a while, begins to play like a Michael Bay movie. The cars themselves don't offer a ...

The auburn glow of sunset gently licks the hard, shimmering metal amid an explosion of debris; a building crumbles and collapses onto the tarmac before you, reducing your rival to dust, causing you to tighten your grip on the wheel and swerve at the last possible minute. Sweating, you feel your tyres lose their grip, and in an instant you find yourself sliding into a helpless drift, slung along by inertia. Read more
