However, there is a lot of inconsistency in the grading system. Every individual stat is rewarded, except for the most important of all--scoring. The only time you receive a positive mark here is if you take a "good shot," but just making a basket doesn't help you improve at all. It's also impossible to know what the game will deem a "good" shot and what it will decide is "bad." Shooting from the paint in a one-on-one, fast break situation sometimes results in you being... • Upbeat tempo is exciting, Progress through My Player mode is rewarding, Online play is a blast, with or against friends.
    • Too easy to get into the paint, eliminating most strategy, My Player mode is plagued by frame rate issues and inconsistent grading, Lots of little bugs.

If 2KGames can keep the players happy by attending to their list of gripes, they may just find themselves uncovering a goldmine when 2K11 comes around.... but they must get it right the first time and not rely on patches and updates. • You guessed it, the game is visually brilliant - Nice Free Throw Action - Connection to Live NBA stats is a good feature - Making a replay tape is cool
    • Heaps of controls to remember - Dragging Career mode - Apparently a truck load of problems, according to the masses

That’s just the meat of the core game of basketball. There’s a beefed out season manager mode, quick play, exhibition matches with All-Star teams over the past several decades, slam dunk contests, “crew” game modes where you can form a team of created players as well as NBA stars, 3 point shoot-outs and of course the new My Player mode, which also includes the D-league which is a developmental league. And we haven’t even touched the online aspect yet. Read more

In recent times, the 2K series has been the gold standard for which other basketball titles aspire to be thanks to its solid production values, intense realism and a vast array of features which keep gamers clamouring back for more. Now in its tenth incarnation, the Visual Concepts team has not rested on their laurels and have made a number of significant tweaks to the title which will help it maintain its dominance over this year's vastly improved competitor, NBA Live... Once the update that was recently released was applied to the game, NBA 2K10 instantly becomes one of, if not the best sports game released in 2009. With great new features and improved Graphics, sound and general game flow, you won’t go wrong picking this game up. I can’t wait to see what NBA 2K11 brings to the table. Read more
