When I prematurely touted Mass Effect 2 as the game of the year, the gaming Gods sent us BioShock 2 as a reminder that the year is still young after all. As far as unnecessary sequels go, this is truly the best of them. The story-telling remains thought-provoking, with an incredible cast of Rapture-dwelling folk to take you on the ride. And with story aside, BioShock 2 improves on the original in every way. Read more

    • sublime story-telling..., visual and aural feast, multiplayer is actually good!, more solid gameplay than BioShock
    • deja vu can lessen the mood, Big Sisters become merely a task..., online flaws (lock-ups, lag)

Minerva's Den plays host to a few of BioShock 2's infrequent irritations. You commonly have a buzzing security drone or two at your side, but annoyingly, they still tend to flit out of range when you try to repair them. The typical BioShock texture pop-in might occasionally distract you as well, considering how much time you spend looking closely at various objects and environmental details. Read more

    • Intriguing story that comes to a surprising and poignant end, Atmospheric visuals and sound effects really draw you in, Fun combat is further energized by new weapons,...
    • Narrative structure is just like previous BioShock stories, A few of BioShock 2's irritations continue to linger.

It's unlikely that someone who hated the first game will find the second amazing, but there's a decent chance someone who merely disliked the first will find their complaints fixed this time around. Those who liked BioShock will love BioShock 2 - it has a great story, great characters (Gil Alexander is no Sander Cohen, but he puts in a good effort) and refined gameplay - it's engineered to be loved by BioShock fans. • More amazing atmosphere., Another great chapter to the BioShock story., Changes to gameplay are very welcome., Gil Alexander almost makes up for no Sander Cohen
    • Is too similar to BioShock occasionally., Really rams the philosophy and politics down your throat.

Conclusion - Is it worth it? The base games great implementation and mix’s of weapons and plasmids work wonders in the execution of this game mode in conjunction to the well designed levels which these Trials take place in. Its this kind of combat depth that makes these Trials a must have for any of you fans of Bioshock lore and gameplay. Read more

As a older female gamer I don't impress easily and want more from a shooter game than lots of blood and gore! Bioshock 2 was probably one of the most anticapated game sequels and does not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed Bioshock and was concerned that Bioshock 2 would be a let down, but far from it! I'm really impressed with this sequel. Am amazing amount of work and attention to detail has gone into this game and all involved are to be highly commended. Read more

Set approximately 10 years after the events of the original BioShock, the halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. You are the very first Big Daddy as you travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and your own survival. Multiplayer in BioShock 2 provides a rich prequel exp…
