The reactions of enemies who know that their colleagues are being picked off one by one adds massively to the feeling that you're playing as a bona fide superhero. As their numbers diminish, enemies become visibly more scared--they start to move around in pairs rather than individually, press up against walls and lean around corners, and ultimately get so panicked that they fire a shot anytime they turn a corner. • Too tempting to play through the entire game in detective vision mode, Supervillains that you don't get to fight feel like missed opportunities.

Batman Arkham Asylum is this years breakaway single player hit, a stunning game with so much polish you'll be blinded, unique characters and environments, and enough replayability to make it a worthwhile purchase. Plus I can now join all the other vapid fanboys with heaps more villian suggestions for the next Batman movie. Read more

    • Tries to do everything and succeeds, exceptional detailed graphics, brilliant level design, surprisingly involved story and themes, fun from beginning to end.
    • The 'I'm batman' voice can get a bit melodramatic ... um ... seriously, that's all I can think of.

Ah, Batman. After first appearing in comic book form in 1939, the Caped Crusader has gone from strength to strength, appearing in several TV shows - animated and live action - as well as many films, the latest of which, Batman Begins and the stupidly-successful The Dark Knight , have catapulted Batman back to his money-drawing best. However, despite success in most other forms of media, the Bat never really took off on the videogame medium. Read more

You may have noticed that during this review I did not mention anything about Batman: Arkham Asylum that was bad. The reason for this? Simple; there is not one bad aspect of the game. Batman: AA is essentially a perfect video game, whether your a Batman fan or not. It has amazing graphics, believable atmosphere, unique gameplay options, great dialogue and voice acting, a decent amount of replay value, and the Batman to top it off. Read more

I'm playing this using a GTX280 GPU. When the HD movie stopped I waited for the HD movie to stop and the game to play. I waited and nothing happened. THEN I got the shock of my gaming life - the High Definition WAS the actual game. I thought this couldn't be as I began to move the characters!! I would go so far as saying that a PC upgrade is worth it if games like this are coming out!! This is a classic. The gameplay is phenomenol. Read more
