Army of Two: The 40th Day is a very appealing shooter, and it looks great to boot. Diverse, ruined environments, cool enemy equipment designs, and nice animation touches make the action that much more lively. It has its fair share of issues, and you'll spend most of the game not knowing why buildings are falling and men are shooting at you. But there's a lot of fun to be had in both the campaign and the online multiplayer. Read more

    • Brutal, satisfying gunplay, Engaging weapon customization, Diverse, detailed environments, Good implementation of light cooperative tactics, Surprising replay value.
    • Often laggy online play, Short campaign, Some movement awkwardness, Weird dabbling in morality.

It may be strange to say, but part of me wants to live in the Shanghai portrayed in Army of Two: The 40th Day. Not the world crumbling around you part, or the millions of civilians dying part either, more so the absolute black or white dividing line between good and evil, without even the slightest shade of gray. Your experience with The 40th Day may be similar, in fact - completely black and white, you'll either love it for what it is, or hate it for what it's not. Read more

    • Extremely tactical and satisfying co-op play., Fairly deep customisation options., Bromantic fist-bumping action.
    • Partner AI is a little retarded in later levels., Long sections without checkpoints., No automatic save after visiting the weapons shop.

It seems fitting that Army of Two: The 40th Day was released this summer as the title has the same feeling as a summer blockbuster movie. Be assured that you won't find a video game equivalent of Shakespeare in Army of Two: The 40th Day , in fact, we'll be so blunt as to say that this game is about as shallow as the kiddie pool at your local leisure centre.
