Wii, like all the previous releases in the Super Mario Bros. franchise is a side-scrolling platforming game where players collect coins as they attempt to make their way through progressively more difficult game levels using their ability to time jumps over obstacles and avoid a slew of enemies.
New Super Mario Bros. is one of the highest selling Nintendo DS games to date. The title returned Mario to his 2D platformer roots, and took inspiration from many of his past adventures. However, it was far from perfect. Many criticised the game for being a little on the easy side, and the Giant and Mini Mushroom power-ups felt like a gimmick instead of a compelling part of gameplay. As with previous Mario games, there are plenty of these secret areas and bonuses to be found, which adds greatly to the replay value of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Taking myself out of the equation allows me to see the game's positives -- it's a polished packaging of the Mario license that fits comfortably on the Wii-but my personal feelings are so inextricably linked to my thoughts on Mario that it's hard not to let my memories of what was and what should have been affect my judgement. Conclusion What is perhaps too difficult to put into words is the simple enjoyment you get out of this game. In all honestly, this is one of the most enjoyable games of the year, if not generation, and heck, maybe even ever. It looks, feels, and above all else sounds perfect. Single player is great, co-operative is better, versus is a fun side-dish to the Mario feast, and the only thing that could have made this game any better is the ability to use the Wii’s classic...
