    Darksiders unapologetically borrows gameplay ideas and mechanics from all over the spectrum and is constantly cramming new ones in all the way up to the very end. While it's not innovative by any stretch of the imagination, neither is it entirely derivative, as these myriad features not only gel together surprisingly well, but when put together even feel fresh again.     Darksiders is an entertaining action game in the mold of God of War. Vigil Games gets the balance between action and puzzles almost perfect, but the lack of an engaging story and originality stops it from being a classic. Read more

    So Darksiders does no job of hiding its influences. It takes elements from some fantastic franchises and blends them into a beautifully created apocalyptic world. The gameplay is engaging and fun, the control system though complex works well, and the art style is brilliant with good use of colours in a usually drab setting. There is a couple of niggling gameplay issues, but they won't put anyone off playing. Read more

    So let’s be pretty honest with each other here: there haven’t been many high quality dungeon-crawling adventure games released in recent years, which really sucks. Considering the quality of some, such as the legendary Ocarina of Time , you’d expect more games to follow in the same vein, where exploration and wonder are rewarded, dungeons are cleverly designed and a powerful boss and reward wait at the end of the road.
