All of the other reviews say what needs to be said about the operation of this lens and I can only concur. I unboxed this lens in my hotel room 18 months ago. I put it on the camera and with auto focus on, just continued to focus on objects in the room. I was fascinated by the ever so soft little whirring sound and the almost inaudible pout when focus is achieved. I still do this from time to time in between putting great images (for me) on my sensor. Read more

Easily the best lens in my kit. The photos produced from this glass are super sharp. I love shooting at f/2.8 as the bokeh is beautiful. Excellent for shooting portraits and sports. It's ridiculously fast and autofocus is amazing! It's solid as a rock and could take a beating. I can't fault this lens. Read more

  4. Fantastic glass, absolutely top class professional gear

Truly a fabulous mid range telephoto. Bit heavy but it will be worth the weight when you see the results. I immediately purchased a uv filter to protect the front glass. Would recommend this. The optics are truly amazing, and the focus mechanisms are spot on. Well, is it worth it....save your pennies as this is worth every cent. I have 4 L series lenses...this is by far the very best....even better than my 180L prime when used as a telephoto. Read more
