The Canon FS100 is a compact camcorder that captures images with its 48x Advanced Zoom, combined with the DIGIC DV II lens. It uses flash memory. It measures up to 2.3" width, 2.4" height and 4.9"depth. It weights at 1.8 Kg. Power consumption is a lithium Ion battery that can record up to 3 hours and it also indicates how much recording time is left. The Canon FS100 records to SD/SDHC memory cards. This camcorder is compatible with Canon DVD Burner DW-100. Canon claims to have revitalize the Standard Definition (SD) market with the launch of this camcorder. “The FS series is a groundbreaking addition to Canon’s range of digital imaging devices, offering content creators and family moviemakers everywhere the ultimate in style, compactness and convenience,” said Mogens Jensen, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe.

This camcorder features a 48x Advanced Zoom, DIGIC DV II Image Processor, Auto Exposure bracketing, and this includes a 1.07 Megapixel CCD Image sensor, Image Stabilization and a 2.7" Widescreen LCD. Modes that can be chosen from are Portrait, Sports, Snow, digital fades, image effects, an LED video light and 2000x digital zoom. The mini video light allows you to shoot subjects in low light of up to about 4.9 feet away. Additional features include, the built-in electronic lens cover, USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Terminal for digital video streaming and transfer of movies and photos, Microphone Terminal which allows attaching an external microphone, and wireless remote control that operates from a distance. This model features a microphone input connection. A Software Solution Disk and Application Disk are supplied together with this camcorder. Connectivity options are an audio output, headphones socket, video output, AV output and Computer Interface (USB 2.0). There’s a wireless remote control as well. Compatible platforms are PC and Mac. Accessories included are a CR2025 lithium battery, a WL-D88 remote control, CA-590 mains adapter, power cable, STV-250N cable, USB cable, BP-808 battery, WS30 strap and CD ROM.
