Running an advanced, Linux-based operating system called Maemo 5, Nokia's N900 is certainly an interesting device. Foremost an Internet tablet and capable of full multitasking, the Nokia N900 smartphone will definitely impress early adopters and gadget gurus, but for others the experience will feel incomplete and uncomfortable. The Nokia N900 smartphone lacks a little style compared to many of its competitors. Read more

    • Outstanding Web browser, responsive screen, comfortable keyboard, excellent multitasking, customisable desktop
    • Bulky, lacking in style, questionable build quality, only works in landscape mode, interface commands are inconsistent

The N900, in some ways, is the definitive device that could turn the tide for Nokia. On the aesthetic level, it does have its appeal with its simple form factor. Yet, there are still kinks for the Nokia team to work on. Designing a much slimmer form factor to suit the mainstream crowd and enhancing the Maemo interface to be even more user-friendly for the consumers are just some of the many things that need to be addressed. After 3 months of using this phone I seriously tried to love this phone and I really wanted to maintain my faith in Nokia but can't help but conclude that this phone was a half baked attempt to keep up with the smartphones race. Nokia introduced marketing spin to define the N900 as a tablet... there's an app to make this phone a pure tablet and that's what I'll be using it for. Read more

Took a few months to get used to but now it's pretty awesome. You can customize most of the phone, including installing a flashlight which i use all the time. Shame it couldn't be built into the phone though. Battery usually lasted 2 days, but i usually charged it daily so was no issue. GPS takes a while to load but still works fine. Occasionally laggy. The software is fairly behind, only recently are they getting it upto date. Applications are fairly limited aswell. Read more
